In 2003, MAS embarked on a unique strategic CSR initiative titled " MAS Women Go Beyond" which aimed to empower women at the workplace and beyond by improving their skills for career advancement or helping them maintain a balance between a professional lives and personal lives. The program was awarded the AAFA's Excellence in Social Responsibility Award in 2005, and has also been recognized by INSEAD, which has based a case study upon it entitled "Strategic CSR in the Apparel Sector".

In addition, each plant has created its own programs. Among them are English classes, computer courses, reproductive health workshops which include maternity courses and AIDS awareness, leadership training, athletic programs, and sexual harassment awareness sessions for its employees.

All the plants hold Parents Days, where the workers' families visit, meet co-workers and managers and are assured that their daughters work in a safe and empowering environment. The plants regularly donate to local schools and hospitals, and after the devastating tsunami, employees raised money and spent their weekends building homes for those displaced.
